Becoming Catholic - Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
"The door of faith is always open for us, ushering us into the life of communion with God and offering entry into His Church...to enter through that door is to set out on a journey that lasts a lifetime." -Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI
What is RCIA?
The Rites of Chrisitan Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a program that is to reach out to non-Catholics to answer questions and to bring in those discerning the Catholic Church into Christ's Church through the sacraments of Baptism (if not baptized) and Confirmation at the end of the program at the Easter Vigil. One discerning the Catholic Chuch is not obligated when starting the class to be received into the Church, however, most do. This is, in the United States, the normal passage by which non-Catholics become a part of Christ's One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
